About Me

Thee K Word
Welcome!
I’m Kimberly, a 40-something year old (gulp) millennial, professional, and advocate for women’s empowerment. My journey has been one of resilience, passion, confusion, mistakes, wins, losses and an unwavering belief in the power of prayer, hard work, and determination.
Born and raised in the booming metropolis of Waycross, GA, I was inspired by my family to pursue excellence in all I do. I earned my degrees in Business Administration from the illustrious Florida A & M University, where I experienced the beauty that is an HBCU. After graduation and quite a few missteps, I finally found my niche and embarked on a successful career in Human Resources. I’ve been very blessed in my career and had the opportunity to hold key positions at various organizations, where I’ve been able to spread my wings by driving innovation, fostering inclusive work environments, and championing diversity initiatives.
As I enter the next phase of my life, I’m committed to giving back. My desire is to truly fulfill the purpose that God has given me on this Earth. My 20’s and 30’s were about figuring out who I was, paying bills, and trying to build a life for myself. Now that I’m more seasoned, God has afforded me the ability to take a step back from the grind and hone into the things that fulfill me as a person, not just a worker, or friend, or daughter.
Now don’t get me wrong, I still work hard, but because I spent the last two decades (whew chile) building and growing wealth, I’m in a better position to focus my attention on other things. This blog is my first step into figuring out what I want to be and how I’m going to serve the community that I love. I am deeply committed to giving back, and I’m passionate about sharing my life, my successes and failures, my ups and downs, my smart moves and teachable moments to anyone who’s able to learn from it, particularly young women of color, helping them navigate their paths to success.
When I’m not working, you can find me reading, trying out new recipes, viewing countless decorating and clothing pins on Pinterest, and hopefully continuously learning and growing.
Thank you for visiting TheeKWord. I hope to inspire and empower you through my journey and the content we share here. Together, let’s celebrate our successes, learn from our challenges, and create a vibrant, supportive community of women thriving in their 30s, 40s, and beyond. (Oh and for all of you 20-somethings that find your way to this site, you’re more than welcome to stay. Just don’t expect any cool lingo or knowledge of any pop-culture past roughly 2010).
